Day 1: Arrival in Sibiu
Arrival in Sibiu and transfer to the charming guesthouse with private bathroom in Rasinari room. Welcome dinner and overnight stay
Day 2: Rasinari - Fantanele - Sibiel (4 - 5 hours hiking)
After exploring Rasinari, a curious village of shepherds (here we will visit the Episcopal Orthodox Church, which is covered with paintings on the outside) we will go to Sibiel and then to the Fantanele mountain. After a break in a rustic hut in the mountains for a refreshing picnic and return to Sibiel, where we visit the Museum of Icons and where an abundant dinner with Romanian specialties awaits us. Overnight.
Day 3: Rasinari - Cima Magura - Cisnadioara (5 - 6 hours hiking)
Breakfast and departure from the Rasinari village, which takes its name from the resin collectors (resin = rasina) we head towards the "Rose Garden", at about 1100 meters above sea level and up to the Cima Magura at a height of 1300 meters . From here we have a splendid view of Transylvania and it will be possible to have our packed lunch. On the way to Michelsberg (Cisnadioara) we reach the "Mezza Pietra" with the fossils of the Calcarea Era. Later we visit the Roman basilica of Cisnadioara, a typical Transylvanian Saxon village. Pleasant transfer on a horse-drawn cart and dinner in a family of farmers in Rasinari. Overnight.
Day 4: Paltinis - Rasinari (5 - 6 hours hiking)
Breakfast and bus transfer to Paltinis, the starting point for a 6-hour hike in the Cindrel mountains. Our journey takes us from Paltinis, through Oncesti and Tomnaticu to Rasinari. On the way we stop for a picnic at the Giardino di Lupo. Dinner at Rasinari.
Day 5: Sibiu, the European Capital of Culture 2007
Breakfast and departure for Sibiu where there will be a guided walking tour of the old city, and you will be able to learn about the sights of the European Capital of Culture 2007. In the afternoon free time for shopping or private visits. Dinner and overnight in Rasinari.
Day 6: Rasinari - Balea Lake - Sighisoara - Biertan (3 hours hiking + 180 km guide)
Breakfast and departure to the Fagaras mountains. Journey to the Balea Glacial Lake (2,033 m). After a picnic at the Balea Waterfall we continue our journey to Sighisoara via Apold, where we visit the fortified church. In Sighisoara, probably the most beautiful and best preserved inhabited citadel in Europe where we will see the 64 m high Clock Tower, the landmark of the city, and the Museum of History (inland), among others. We will see the birthplace of Vlad Dracula and climb the Scala Scala to reach the Church on the Hill. Dinner and accommodation for 2 nights at the guesthouse in the fortified church of Biertan.
Day 7: Biertan and the Transylvanian Saxons (4 - 5 hours hiking)
In the morning we explore the imposing Fortified Church of Biertan with its three defensive walls (UNESCO World Cultural Heritage). Then we will take a walk through the hills that form a unique landscape among the Transylvanian Saxon villages. On the way we have a picnic and visit some other fortified churches. Dinner and overnight stay in Biertan.
Day 8: Biertan - Medias - Sibiu (80 km driving)
Breakfast and transfer to the airport in Sibiu (other airports on request with extra charge)
