Is a historical region in the northeast part of the Romanian territory and includes the following cities: Cajvana, Câmpulung Moldovenesc, Gura Humorului, Ash, Milișăuți, Rădăuți, Siret, Solca, Suceava, Vatra Dornei and Vicovu de Sus from Romania, as well as Cernăuți, Cozmeni, Zastavna, Vășcăuți on Ceremuș, Vijnița, Storagura in Ukraine. It translates as „the land of beech trees” which refers to the forests that once covered this land.
The most important attractions this area has to offer are the painted monasteries. Each one has a dominating colour that differentiates it from the others, each one of them presents reminders of saints and prophecies or moments of the life of Jesus, many are UNESCO’s heritage and represent a unique reason for visiting them. Culture lovers are invited to discover also the work of local artisans and to taste the delicious traditional food.
